I will be installing my new pellet stove in a couple of weeks and am thinking of venting it through the roof. The decision to vent through the roof is based upon desired location of stove installation. The stove will be installed on a front wall and I did not want to have a vent pipe sticking out of the front of the house, so I am planning on roof venting. But instead of having an ugly metal pipe sticking up through the roof, I am considering constructing a faux chimney above the roof line. I know that make chimney surrounds for this that look like brick, but I think they are somewhat boring. I am considering using a cultured stone of a river rock variety. I was wonerind if anyone here has built a faux chimeny to cover up a vent pipe? Any suggestions, concerns, general advice would be appreciated.
