Getting a Country Canyon installed in front of my existing fireplace.

I've got a quote of $700 to brick up the opening but I've got another idea.

Steel plate with a few L bolts to hold it in, paint it stove black and it's done.

Has anybody tried this? Can I buy one ready made?

Inputs appreciated

How bout a sheet of durock & some stone veneer or tile?

What are you looking to accomplish here? Just cover it up with minimal cost? Are looks at all important?

Maybe just buy a hearth pad and mount it in front - trim it out with whatever you like...
