how do wood stoves run in "fireplace mode" with the doors open packed full of wood receiving full air and not have issues with flue temps being too high?

The large amount of dilution air coming in through the open door cools things down. But very few stoves offer that option anymore.

think i can do this with my kodiak stove ? Its very similar in size to a fisher mama bear
Yeah on an old primative stove like that as long as you have enough draft it won't matter at all

I think fireplaces are not run "fully loaded", but with one or two splits at a time. That helps too (in addition to the large quantity of air cooling things down.)
