I had a fireplacex flush wood insert installed Jan 2020. I love the unit but have a question I can’t find an answer to.

The insert has a thermometer for the cat and I have no idea how hot is too hot for that thermo. Any ideas/experiences/suggestions? It generally hits 1,250 with the bypass shut and all air shut down and then I get a bit nervous and crack the bypass a hair. Burning very well seasoned oak.

I should note the mfg manual does not provide any insights.
