First Burn in New Oslo

While we have enjoyed the Rumford fireplace for many years, I wanted to get more usable heat from the wood we burn. As much as I like my VC in the basement, not looking to go that route with all the problems I have been hearing about them. Ended up with the Oslo. Here is my first burn in the stove. Can't wait for some cold weather, it's almost 70 hear today

The hearth needs to extend at least 18" in front of the stove. That wood needs protection.

Welcome to the forum. It looks like you don't have any sort of ember protection in front of your Oslo. First time you open the front door and an ember pops out you will have a burn mark on your floor before you're likely to figure out how to pick it up and get it back into the stove. Even a cheap ember resistant rug would be a good idea until you can sort out how you want to deal with this issue.

I was excited to get the first burn going, I do have ember protection that will extend 19" in front of stove for width of hearth.

Sounds like you will be good to go. Looking forward to seeing a better photo of the stove. Also, maybe a photo showing more of the wall with the stove so we can see how it looks in the room. After about an hour of burning put your hand down on the floor in front of the stove to see hot it feels. Better still if you have an IR thermometer and can take some actual readings.
