Well I just "finished" installing my used Jotul 550 and fired it up for the first time. I knew it was very lightly used but I don't think the previous owner had any more than one fire in it as I am getting a chemical smell. I've left the surround off to give me good access in case anything were to go wrong. This is my first time installing one of these things and I couldn't have done it with out all your help. Thanks to you and happy Thanksgiving.

Chemical smell is normal burn off....happens for first few fires...along with some bangs as the steel gets heated up...both go away. Check out the Rockland tips thread and my install thread from my signature....happy burning!! Love mine, wish I could pack more not it for longer burn times....
