yea he was the scarecrow for Holloween and I did'nt wat to take the poor guy down so I moved him to wood pile watcher.

though he's been slipping as there was lots of bunny tracks leading up to the door of the pile.

but No wood was missing so I'm gonna keep him around for a few more months.

Looks like a nice backup pile of wood. Do you take extra precautions with stacking the wood in that? I just wondered because it seems it would be easy to rip. I've thought in the past about doing this very same thing but noticed a couple people around this area has them and usually within a couple of years there are some big rips in them. Are the repair kits worth anything?

my first year with this shed set up wood pile was already in place set up pipe frame around pile pulled tarp parts up and over and bolted together. got the tarp used and only cost me $150 or $200 in that range 12'-20' so it fit right over my pile.

pile is 3 pallet's wide by 5 pallet's long.
I have limited storage in my garage for wood that I use. 3.8 cords if my math is correct.
my main storage location becomes unaccessible once there's more than 12" snow on the ground due to drifting and hillside's so I have to keep enough wood at home in order to make it through the winter.

It works for me.

Ah, so you put the frame up, then stored the wood before putting the tarp on. If not I'd bet it would be kind of dark in there. lol

thanks, well 95% off the wood that went into this pile has been seasoned 3+ years so I wasn't real worried about air flow and drying so its a mass pile of wood that is nice and covered and ready for burning and its easy to get out of the stack now and not snow covered and frozen together like I've delt with in years past.

May be time to rethink how much goes into the "primary" pile, eh?
I am by no means perfect, but I like to keep more than needed in my primary stacks, just in case.
Do you have room for more in the primary area? I love the backup pile is seasoned 3+ years!

Pic of Primary Pile this is 6 rows deep. Door on left is where wood boiler is. when I get down to the last row of wood then I start shuttle wood from the back up pile with the trailer. I have room to park the trailer where the primary pile once was I could unload the trailer and restack primary pile but if I heap the trailer full I can make it from weekend to weekend when I have the time and sunlight to refill the trailer. and if I run into a nasty weekend of weather I still have the last row of wood to use as a emergency week backup.
I could stack more but then the wife has to park outside and that dosn't work so well for me as she gets #$%#$%
she like's not having to scrape that windshield in the mornings and I somewhat agreed with her on that.

A buddy of mine uses a similar shed. He places pallets down walls so wood won't rip through.
