Hi all-

Great resource you have here! I have been searching the site for a couple of hours looking for some info on this stove, hopefully I didn't just miss it, but here goes:

I have an Acclaim 0041 with shaker grates which needs the lower fireback and arches replaced as well as the retro fit brick upgrade (metal sides craked where bolt goes through). Should I be looking for the original arches and fireback, or will the current parts fit? Secondly- I can't seem to find info on the retro fit kit- I have the parts explosion for the 0041 but the only info it has listed for the left and right core sides is "not available- substitute on page 76"

Are there any rebuild threads for the Resolute Acclaim? My searches have turned up nothing...

Thanks in advance for any help you can lend!

Josh

I think you need to go a pretty complete rebuild on this thing, and then the new parts may end up working....although parts list still shows old parts because some people may not have rebuilt theirs!

Over the years, things have changed with this model since they used to offer (and still may) a "repair or upgrade" kit with all the proper parts to retrofit.

Your best bet, short of having a current and knowledgeable VC dealer (Seaken!) reply to this thread, would be:
1. Check with your local dealer if you have a decent one with a parts person!
2. Check with CFM themselves - they have a Customer Contact phone number
3. Check with one of the VC parts specialists:

Any up-to-date service manual from VC should mention this exact situation.

Thanks Craig-

I was hoping to find some sort of service guide. I called my local dealer this mornig, but he said to call back on a weekday when they can get in touch with the VC rep who lives close by.

Those guides are usually in the dealer books - which makes it clear exactly how "x" situation must be handled.

Well, if you find out anything that exists in writing, I'll be glad to post a wiki entry on it. As of now, all I see is the note about the grate not shaking any more (early ones did).

My guess, based on stuff like this on our site:
https://www.hearth.com/ratesingles/rate468.html

is that you must replace the entire interior (or at least most of it)....and possibly even the combustion box if it is damaged.

Well it sounds like the whole interior upgrade kit will run me in the $350 range. It's a lot, but considering I didn't pay anything for the stove it not too bad. The kit includes a bunch of stuff including all new arches, fireback, interior sides and I'll have to replace the exterior sides too.

I pulled the stove apart (removed lower fireback and arches) this past weekend to check out the combustion package. It didn't look too bad, but I'm not sure what I am looking for either. Can anyone clue me in? I didn't notice any big chunks missing- all of the holes were the appropriate size... Should I just go ahead and replace it anyway? I think it's an additional $140...

Thanks,

Josh

So it sounds okay to you then? Is it a big PITA to replace these normally, or can you get in there and replace it without having to cement things?

Thanks again,

Josh
