First woodstove. What should I be looking for on used Scan Anderson 10?

Hi,
I am looking to buy my first woodstove on Saturday. Someone has a used Scan Anderson 10 stove for sale. They say it is about 10 years old. From the pictures it looks to be in good condition, but I really don't know what I am looking for. I will attach some pictures that I have been provided. They were asking $1500 but went as low as $1250 (canadian dollars) for it. It is a couple of hours drive away, so any advice you can give me is much appreciated.

My friend had one years ago worked well.i just did a Google and there was a recall on some of those.best to Investigate that.couple of dollars more and you can get a new drolet.

The recall was for the possibility of the door falling off on some 2010 units.

I agree that is too much for this stove. The glass is badly hazed and the interior skamol panels may need to be replaced in the next few years. It probably will need a door gasket too.

The Scan 10 is a small stove. The Drolet SparkII would be a better buy. How will the stove be used, 24/7 or nights and weekends? How large of an area would it be heating? Will it be connecting to a new flue system or an existing one?

It is just for backup heat (the main source is electric) and for ambience. I decided against it in the end. Thanks for everyone's comments. The house is about 1200sqft. This will sit in the basement/recroom. I am thinking maybe something like the Drolet Deco2. Looks are more important than heating capabilities in this case. I liked the Scan Anderson for its large glass, but I can't seem to find any replacement parts here in Canada, so if the glass is etched or anything else wrong with it, I wouldn't be able to fix it. The glass is one of the easier parts to replace if it is flat and not curved. There are many glass shops that carry ceramic glass for stoves and can cut it to order. The other parts, like the skamol panels, may be harder to find.
