Hello
Working on a Whitfield Advantage Plus, Which is a real challenge! Still a good stove and should be worth it!
The left side door lower hinge tab has a big cut where the bend is and it is about to fall off!
These panels are not easy to find!
Thanks to the new Harbor Freight Vulcan Omni-Pro 220
(broken link removed)
We found that this welder runs a little hot on thinner Guage metal on the presets. Also the left door measured 16 Guage with the Vulcan Guage tool with the bumpy Matt finished paint so to keep from blowing thru that tiny tab we choose the 18 Guage preset which is 14.2 volts and a 125 in/min wire speed and just did 4 tack welds side by side and then some grinding! Bingo it worked! See last 2 Pics
Anyone else do stove welding??
Pic 1 - tab with cut right at the bend - it will not last any longer!
Pic 2 - grinding off paint for welder ground clamp
Pic 3 - ready to weld
Pic 4 - 4 quick welds ready for grinding!
Pic 5 - grinding down new weld so tab will fit slot
Pic 6 - shows tab ground down and not cut - cut is now completely repaired!
