I just purchased a jotul 3cb! I am going to install next weekend. Its going to vent up the fireplace. Are the flex kits safe? any install tips would be greatly appreciated. The guy at the shop gave me a piece of black pipe to insert into the rear of the stove and then a stainless steal flex liner kit with a block off plate. I also got a hearth pad. I also have to rip off the wood mantle because of the overhang. I hope the kits come with all the hardware? he claims they do? Also cutting out the damper should be fun! well any tips would be great!

As long as the flex is UL or warntek approved then you dont' have to worry about anything. If you have any questions about flex liner feel free to PM me... My company has been in the business for 19 years and has some employees that have more then 35 years of experience each.

There are a few threads on cutting out dampers here so search to find out just how much fun you will have! Is your chimney in good shape? Have it cleaned/checked by a pro before installing the liner just to be sure. Will you be insulating the liner? If not, this assumes a chimney in good shape (lined with terra cotta tiles)

First get a permit and talk to the inspector about your plan, this will make to final inspection easy. Read your instillation manual for both the stove and vent pipe and follow every word during the installation. Remember to spend some time cleaning out the existing chimney and do any repairs needed to keep it up before you start.

I just installed my F3 about a month ago using the flex liner kit by TCE. The install went well. I had to muscle the liner a little to get it around the damper frame this way I didnt have to get into ripping that thing out.... I made my own damper plate using thick stainless sheet metal. I also replaced the wood mantel with stone......This was a one thing led to another project.... but in the end it works great. I havent had to turn on my oil heat yet :-) The only thing that did not come in my kit that I had to pick up with the rigid pipe to connect to the flex liner...
