I had a Hearthstone Green Mountain 40 installed by a contractor in 02/2021. I was, and am increasingly with time, unsatisfied with their installation for a number of reasons.
Will point to just one reason here. Recently swept the chimney for first time and realized while re-assembling that the installers had failed / forgotten to install a component of the Selkirk DSP Vertical Kit: the finishing band. So what I have at the ceiling is the M Class A crimp seated in the F stovepipe crimp.
Before I order a replacement band, I'm interested in determining how necessary it is. Does it serve a function beyond the merely cosmetic? Perhaps it is required as a functional equivalent to a 3-screw fastening?
