I have just put into service an old Garrison wood/coal stove. The air intakes for the fire box are in the door of the ash tray below the shaker grate and above the front loading door leading directly into the fire box. What is best and most efficient way to fire this stove? Does anyone have owners manuals for Garrison stoves?

it depends if you are burning wood or coal which air intakes you open. For wood open the air direct into the firebox. For coal open the air in the ashpan door.
