We're having a wood burning stove replaced with a Gas Burning LOPI CYPRESS. I have to have a gas line and electric run to the location (which is in the middle of our A-Frame style house) . Because of the location of the stove, the unit will be exposed on all sides, instead of being against a wall where the gas line and electric would be "hidden". The Cypress is open on the bottom and supported by 2 side legs.... it appears that there would be room to install the gas line with shut off valve under the unit along with the electric. The flex pipe would need to snake around to the back of the unit to tie into the unit. My questions is, would it be allowed to mount the gas line port and shut off valve under the unit? I don't see any issue, but you should probably check with your local code enforcement or building inspector.
thanks Bob, looks like local codes mostly focus on "accessible" shut off valve and being "inside the envelop" of the unit.
Inside the envelope refers to inserts or chased in gas fire places.
As long as you have a shut off within 5 feet of the appliance, you should be good.
