Already removed one of the two washers in the door latch mechanism to tighten the door down on the gasket. About one and a half seasons old, the woven fiberglass gasket looks like almost new, but I'd like it to be tighter on the opening side of the door. I read somewhere to fluff the gasket up. I tried it with my fingers and a pin, but am curious what technique others use to fluff their gaskets?

I tried fluffing with a piece of bent wire. At best, it just buys you a little time. I spent more time fluffing than it took to replace the dead gasket. You can do a better job with the new gasket, don't stretch it, to get more life.
