Glass clean Hrman TL 300

My glass keeps getting black on on the bottom half section of the window. I am burning hot fires with dry wood. My stove is a harman TL 300. It seems to blcken in this area when I close the bypass damper.

Any sugesstions of how to keep this clean, or position the wood or coals to keep clean?????

The farther the wood is from the glass the better.

Even with that I give a once-over with the Rutlands glass cleaner (cold stove, of course) every few days and that helps a lot.

If you are just having small, short fires the glass will get dirty whatever you do.
