I am a new Harman XXV owner who has been using the stove about 2 weeks now.

I noticed a brown film build up on the interior glass. It is coming off extremely slow using plain water and I was wondering what I can use to make the cleaning go a little faster?

My Harman stove has a mirror finish on the glass, is this mirror finish on the inside or outside of the glass?

What chemicals can I use that will not deteriorate the mirror finish?

By the way, I looked in the owner's manual page 18 and the glass cleaning section of the manual offers no clues.

dip the wet towel/rag in ash and wipe, it will easily remove the brown film. Then finish with a fine glass polish.

Let me get this straight... you want me to use pellet ashes on a wet cloth to wipe down the glass? I would imagine that would be like wiping the glass with sandpaper. Consider the particles of dirt, sand and unburnt wood that exist in the ashes. No disrespect to you but I could not disagree more.

I use Awesome. $1/bottle at the Dollar Store. No issues after many years of use.

People do it all the time. Works great.
Wood stove users use that method also.
Pellet ash is not abrasive enough to do any harm.
Unless youve got really bad pellets...

I know the ash trick sounds crazy but yea it works awesome, its in my Harman manual even, I've been using rutland stove glass cleaner I found tractor supply and it works better than anything else I've tried, it leaves like a wax on the glass and cleaning it after is so much easier and seems to stay cleaner longer. Any ceramic glass / counter cleaner will work with out hurting it, what ever you do don't use anything with ammonia it'll cloud up the glass and make a mess out of it, I didn't believe it until I saw a friends stove and it looked like hell. I guess being ceramic the ammonia messes it up. so for the 3 bucks the glass cleaner works the best. IDK where the mirror look comes from but I think its some kind of light refractive glass, pretty cool how you cant see in till the fire's going !! the only way to see what's going on in there is to hold a light up to the glass,,

yes on the ash method.
i clean the glass much less frequently that when i first got the stove and was obsessive and cleaning more often that i really needed to.
so now i do get the brown film on the glass between cleanings, and the ash trick works stunningly well.

have you tried the stove glass cleaner yet, I was surprised at how clean its stayed, works like a rain x , I use it inside and out and it cleans much easier the next time,,

Ditto on the Rutland glass cleaner, but also ditto on the ash for cleaning. I find glass stays a little cleaner for longer after Rutland, but both have worked well for years. And personally, that glass can just stay dirty until the weekend cleaning 'cause it's just gonna get dirty again.

XXV owner here. Sometimes I use a dry rag, other times I wet the rag and dip in the ashes. For a sparkling clean, I use Rutland. Mirrored finish is on the exterior, use ammonia free glass cleaner or Rutland with a clean cloth, ceramic stove top cleaner work well inside and out as well.

I use Rutland Glass cleaner on a damp paper towel. Scrub, and then wipe off with a clean dry paper towel.
Works like a charm on my XXV.

Same question when I started. +1 on the ash. I disagree on the Rutland, I bought some and it seems to leave something behind that makes buildup worse (YMMV). Now I just use Invisible Glass from Stoner, just like I do on all auto glass and my wife cleans all our windows with it.
