Got half the hearth done...

Tomorrow the top half goes in, or "on" the wall. I know that without pics, it didnt happen so here ya go. I owe the design to my dear wife, i just ran the tile saw, the circular saw, and the thinset...

Those copper tiles in the border are actually amber glass. It looks pretty nice if we do say so ourselves

I did notice a long joint line from front to back close to the middle but I'm sure it don't matter.
Did you grout it yet?
On second thought you would prolly wait till the back is tiled.

Thanks! The long line wont be so noticeable once the stove is on it. ;-) we will be grouting it tomorrow once the tiles set.
The back of the hearth is a different kind of tile that doesnt need to be grouted, the tiles lay right on top of each other. We felt it would easier not having to use spacers and worrying about the tiles sliding down the wall...i got 10 ceramic 1inch spacers at my stove shop nearby it was a nice little kit, comes with the spacers, screws, and wall anchors.

Well, the hearth and stove are done. For those that asked the bottom is 1/2 " plywood, 1/2 " durock nexgen, then 1/4" tiles

Well, the toys are from the grandson, we have been teaching him slowly with the stove in place NOT to even step foot on the hearth let alone the stove. He is only 1 so... But he seems to be learning to go around it. But i will be thinking of a gate while it is burning
