Joined today to ask the question above. We have a granite slab and a small Arundel multi-fuel stove is being fitted with secondary wall external flue on Monday the 23rd of May. We are beautiful LVT tiling throughout the small living room. Is it possible for me to secure to 90 cm by 70 cm 30 mm thick granite slab using a non water-based adhesive directly over the LVT tiling? The risks of removing the LVT tiling in my opinion outweigh the risks of leaving them in place. The tiling itself is fire resistant and to remove the section runs the risk of damaging the screed below loosening the edges of the tiles that will remain in place around the half. Opinions of such experts by experience as your good selves is much sought.

I think the weight of the slab + stove may be sufficient to keep it in place without adhesive. But first, make sure that the slab hearth fully meets or exceeds the hearth pad requirements for the Arundel stove.

Good job we let the fitter do the slab laying.... The room floor was out of horizontal by almost two inches at the front He left tiles down and laid a mortar bed

2" in that little area is huge. It would be a large slope even if the whole room was off by that much. Is there a foundation problem with the building?
