I just bought a ton of Green Supreme Plus pellets from TSC in Kalamazoo. The UPC code on the bag is 13238 00000. The bag is clear and does not give any other information about "flavor", blend or plant. The pellets look good through the bag, consistent length and low fines/dust. I normally avoid GS like the plague, but these look better than the Easy Heats I've been burning. I know Lignetics owns a bunch of mills around the country. I'm thinking these probably are made in WI. TSC near me usually sells ProPellet, which are made locally. I was surprised they were selling GS, which are normally a Lowes/HD pellet around here. They were $268, including 4% tax. That's a dollar a bag discount, on sale. That's about $25 more than the Easy Heats on sale.

Those don't have a "where born" location and that drives me nuts. They are all the same code but come out of any of their factories as far as I can tell.

I preferred when they had "flavors". I could guess which brands they used to be (Currans, NEWPs etc) from the area they were made in so have an idea of how they would burn. And sometimes, I would see that an HD had Alleghany pellets instead of the regular Northeast blend, and go get some because those were just better and hotter. I guess they don't want people to go shopping for the better flavors.

I just finished some GS Midwest hard wood, and boy, I don't ever want to get those again. Super dusty / lots of fines coming out of the bag. Some bags were closed with moisture in them from the lumps of sawdust in there (bags of HW have no holes, so it wasn't moisture intrusion and bags weren't "broke"). Also, the Midwest hardwoods were very ashy when burning - and I'm not really particular on those things. At least they had decent heat, running slightly hotter than the Northeast blend. I couldn't wait to finish the 4 tons I got in 2024 (which was what HD sent me - I had expected the usual Northeast blend). I was doing a happy dance Saturday, because that was the day I emptied the last bag in the P61a.

I just opened my first skid of the GS+ pellets (pic above was taken at opening). I could guess these are NEWPs because the plant is ~20 miles from me. But in reality, they could have been shipped from any of their plants and I would never know. My P61a hasn't reached the GS+ yet, so I'll have to wait to see how they burn.

The plant number and date of manufacture is embossed on the back of the bag, but I have no idea how to decipher them, especially now that Lignetics has bought a number of brands local to me in recent years. I'm in the western Southern Tier in NYS and I’ve gotten GS from PA (decent), Deposit and Schuyler NY (meh to bad), WV/VA (usually quite good). They own Dry Creek now but I don’t know if the Arcade, NY plant bags GS now or not. There are some old posts with some of the plant codes but they seem out of date now that Lignetics has expanded into many more plants in recent years.

That would not be the case for the ones I have. They have taken all identifying information off of them as far as I can tell.

I don't believe I've seen a list of Lignetics plant numbers. It used to be you could tell by the Bar Code, but that is no longer the case as they all go back to the mother office.

Thats true and that’s how I used to determine the plant location but if you look really closely, there is a code stamped (embossed) on the back top center or corner of each bag which supposedly identify the plant and date of manufacture. There are old posts about how to decipher them but with so many newly acquired plants they’re out of date.

Each plant also has a TP code with PFI but that’s not on the bag at all (just TP100 which I’m assuming means Lignetics the company).

If you could supply a picture of that code, that might help. I still see and feel nothing on the bag. The back side is completely blank of anything.

Thanks for the replies. I'll check my bags for the embossing. My son has a friend who works for Lignetics in CO. Maybe he can relay some plant codes, if it's available.

While looking for any info on the back, saw this in one of the bags. Unbroken pallets (factory wrapped) and unbroken bags. I'm guessing it can't be unusual if I spotted it in a random bag that I picked to look at. My vision isn't great, so the only reason I saw it was using my phone to zoom to see if there was some sort of embossing that I couldn't see or feel without enhancement..
