This stove has a removable portion of the rear baffle which has several drilled holes in it. As far as I can tell, by [Hearth.com] H II hearthstone (circa 1980s) baffle problem [Hearth.com] H II hearthstone (circa 1980s) baffle problem looking at the Hearthstone website, this type of baffle was intended to be installed in the HII Alginon stove (the one equipped with a gas burner). For some reason my stove, a wood burner, has this baffle. This removable portion of my baffle is completely burnt through and must be replaced. It does not appear to be easily available from anyplace.
I have a 12" x 12" x 1/4 " piece of plate steel that I am going to try to bend into the correct shape so that it will hang in the still good portion of the rest of this baffle.
Before going to all that hassle, I thought I would post on this forum.
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I MIGHT FIND THIS PIECE?
Thanks

Thanks Dasky I have looked at this site and they do not list the H II Alginon stove. I am going to send them an email inquiring if they might still be able to find this part tho. Thanks fred

From HearthStone Tech "The Alginon did have that perforated insert in the top baffle. We also used it in the regular H-II for a short period of time, The thought was that it could be removed in favor of a catalytic retrofit system. When the cat kit never really materialize, the perforated insert was discontinued and made obsolete. The only option now is to replace the entire baffle with the solid, one piece baffle, our kit number 92-58243. ."

I just inquired about replacing the baffle on my Hearthstone l, which I've been burning for over 25 years. Its bent from the heat and has a big hole in it. I went on Hearthstoneparts.com and they list the parts by model. I went to my local stove dealer, the same place where I bought my stove, he said I have to take the stove apart to get the baffle out. I have to unbolt the top and take it off to get to the long bolts that hold the baffle in. I am in the market for a pellet stove now.
