Anybody else have their wife cut theirs? I suppose it’s a me being cheap thing. With a tip, I’m sure it costs around $30 to get a haircut at the local barber shop. I tell my wife that I’d rather spend that $30 taking her out to eat.

I bet there are value meals at McDonald’s that cost that, so it’s not a direct swap, lol, but close enough!

I wear a hat every day, so it’s not a big deal if it gets cut oddly. Not that I’d really care anyway. Hair isn’t a big thing to me.

I actually cut my own hair. Not sure how I feel about letting my wife do it...

I'm the wife that cuts hubby's hair (and I cut my own)....have done it for over 40 years. He also hates to spend the money on
something so simple--but he hates to schedule appointments more! LOL I also used to cut my kids' hair (they're
all grown up now)...it was just easier than rounding up the herd to go somewhere.

I cut my own as well. I got a haircut almost every week for too many years because of work. I only cut mine now when my wife tells me I'm looking to much like a caveman.

I've noticed that when I cut my own hair I'm not real particular about the finished product, though I usually do pretty good. I wear a ball cap most of the time, though

I have used one of these for 40 years, one of the best investments I've ever made.

I haven't regularly paid for a haircut in over 30yrs. The last time that I paid was almost 20yrs ago. I just got my own with a nice set of clippers. I just roll into the bathroom, cut it, use my hand vacuum to clean up after I'm done, and then hop into the shower to clean up.

Yes, I had my wife cut mine during covid. We bought a fairly inexpensive rechargeable shaver and I'm still using it. I had a full beard for awhile, and could do them both at the same time myself. The secret for doing it yourself is to go by feel, and go short like 6 mm. Then when done, take a couple of pictures with your phone to see behind. When it is that short you can usually feel the missing parts. Plus if you do the whole thing 4 times you are sure to get it all. I was paying over $30 a month plus tip. Hadto get rid of the full beard though as I never trimmed it and had that mountain man look after 4 weeks.
Edit - had 2mm above but that is just for the edges. 6mm all over.

I tip my head over a garbage can in the basement and buzz it until it won't cut anymore, same as @Whiteknuckler about 1/4"
I don't think it's the $30, but the cost doesn't help. It's more a convenience thing, the hair annoys me, I go downstairs, buzz it off and have a shower. No appointment necessary. Our youngest kid prefers the same treatment (11yrs), sometimes he will help with mine.
