Day 10 with my new Heatilator insert and I just could not be happier. You know, there's just certain things one may purchase that occasionally you second guess...... Well I can tell you all that this is one of the best purchases I have made in a long time. Money well spent and it feels good! My only regret is not doing it sooner.

My house is consistantly 4-7 degrees warmer at all times than I ever kept it when I was burning oil, and I haven't turned the heat on once since the very first time I lit the first log 10 days ago. I have 3 acres of fuel right outside my back door, a pick-up truck, tractor, and a new chain saw all ready to feed this new love.

Want to toss out a big thanks to all the contributers here who I secretely poached info from in my research leading up to making my decision to add a wood stove. Lots of good folks here. One of the most genuine forums I belong to.

Here I sit toasty warm just after taking the dogs out for the last time tonight. Not terribly cold out at 36 degrees, but sitting in front of this stove with a nice dark beer sure feels good. Ain't life grand?

Good luck with your new insert. It's fine to lurk here in order to learn what you need to. Lots of experienced members that can answer your questions also. This is one of my favorite forums. I try to contribute the little experience and knowledge I have in order to help others when I can. I am only on my second stove, 12 years of burning for me. Wifey not so interested. But my 3y/o, already asking if she can help. There is hope.

Sounds great! You will especially like it even more as winter gets here. It is so much better to be comfortable in your own home rather than having to wear extra clothing to keep warm.

Now that you have this part taken care of, I suggest working on the next step (which actually should have been first but rarely is) and that is your wood supply. Don't rest until you have a 3 year supply of wood on hand. It will make the burning process go so much better that you'll be amazed.
