Out in the workshop yesterday making some tool handles. Before I had the triangle end wrapped in some foam sheet with gaffers tape.
The Vacuum attachment is great. I can take the cover off my igniter hole and vacuum from above without taking the ash pan out.
Also great for the fines compartment. The handle wood is one large ash hammer handle I got somewhere to make knife handles.

Great minds thick alike. What else defines humans but the ability to make a tools !

There are other animals that make and use tools. Although "make" may be a somewhat strong word. Modifying what they find (regardless if it is natural or not) is more like it.

Yes I remember seeing on tv how primates use sticks to get honey or dig out ants. Or use rocks to smash bones for marrow. Birds will drop shellfish on rocks to break them. It seems the use of hands and creativity were determining factors.

Added a couple of more tools. Ash Bucket Compressor and Exhaust/ESP Probe Brush.
The ashes can be quite loosely packed, so a little tamping makes more room.
I have found this burning season it is better to shut it off for a quick cleaning every afternoon.
It only take less than an hour to cool off enough, and you don't loose that much heat in the room.
You need to be careful if you are using the vacuum. I find I need to vacuum on the door under the glass.

good tools but if i was to shut down every day to clean my house would get cold pretty quick. besides most of us dont feel it needs cleaning every day... scrape the burnpot daily and once a week or every 2 to full clean a Harman is sufficient.

I like to shut it down and let the pellets burn out to scrape the burn pot. I have found clinkers building up on the side even after a day.
A full cleaning for me is about every weeks when I need to dump the ash bucket. Mine's in the basement, and I do it around 3pm. I'm not down there watching TV till later. Last year when I got it I was a newbie and was running it 24/7 and just doing a quick scrape while it was running. It got pretty bad.
Edit - forgot to mention the glass cleaning. Very fast and easy if done everyday (for 24/7 Winter Operation). 45 Minutes to cool down, then 2 minutes for the quick cleaning.

My brushes arrive today. Not sure how I'm going to hook them up to rope, but the plan will be to drag them through the pipes. Will probably try to drill them out. Found them on Amazon about $9 CAD ea

I have a brush like that assume 4" or so but it had 3 or 4 long rods that screwed into each other then the brush at the end..
I use it for my outside exhaust and just brush all the way up [5 ft] and back down to release any crud. also the inside exhaust tunnel. the end of any of the rods can be attached to any power drill so can use instead of manually pulling/pushing. kind of lint brush attachment on steroids...about 18.00 amazon

I have a similar one that I bought new from Princess Auto and tried it last fall. I couldn't use it except maybe my out door vertical run. I have a cleanout in back of the stove (can't go up from there) and a 90 going outside to a cleanout tee. Can't get it up the outside cleanout tee, and past the inside house 90. All I have is dust anyway, and I'm fed up playing with rods. I could barely get them in, and forget using a drill on my setup. The only place I have ever seen anything hard is in the burn pot.

That would be great. I made out OK on the tunnel. I clean that every 3 weeks. I have a brush, and my shopvac has the smaller size hose. It will go under the ESP probe, and all the way to the cleanout. I wish my stove was elevated though. I have to do the snake routine to see. That is on my wish list. I'm not sure how I would do it though. Maybe get a fab shop to weld be up a stand. I have a slip joint, but I don't know if it would end up being the right size.....

If you source a coupling for threaded rod which are approximately 1" to 1 1/2" long and have a welder tack a 3/8 nut to one end of it you'll be able to screw your brush to it and pull it through your pipe with a rope. 👍

That's a good idea. I do have a mini stick welder. Now you have me shopping again:

Bought another brush adapter for my shop vac. This one came with a little brush that will be good to clean the combustion fan blades. I think I was starting to lose bristles inside the stove from all the rubbing. Also picked up a little magnetic locker mirror. I can use it to see behind, and I stick it on the controls door with the door open to see the lights from my chair. Also ordered from Vevor a small dolly set. It came with a lever tool. If I need to move my stove out this may work (by myself)
