Hi, My stove was made in 2014 and I did the install myself and put an OAK on it the day installed. I’ve been nothing a cool draft lately in the room that our stoves is in and it’s kind of uncomfortable even though it’s 77 degrees in that room. When I pulled the stove out to do a good cleaning from A-Z the other day I noticed something for the first time and was kind of puzzled. When I looked into the stove from the back side where the OAK mounts I noticed a silver block off plate that was approximately a foot down into the stove. Of course I should’ve taken a picture, but I forgot to. So it’s kind of like a piece of say 4”x4”x12” deep square tubing and it’s solid all around so I have no idea how the stove is getting this air to the burn pot from this chamber.

Was I supposed to have taken that plate off or is it correct and I’m overthinking this. My other guess with the draft is that maybe it’s time to replace the rope around the doors because it’s the original

Ty in advance

Mark on the picture what you are talking about.

Hi. Ty so much for the pictures. Inside here is a metal block off plate. It looks like an a four gang blank off plate that an electrician would use. I’ve cleaned out in this chamber before, but never really gave it to much thought. So if that block off plate inside is correct how does the stove get the fresh air because it appears this 4.7 figure is completely sealed other then where the pipe connect to the OAK pipe.

OK,the round section that had to be removed from the stove(back draft damper),to install this full air kit,has a damper flap down inside it.I bet that is what you are seeing.

Excellent TY so much. So when it’s drawing air when the stove is running the fire is sucking that open and the fresh air is pushing it at the same time
That makes sense to me now. I’ll push on it a little next time I pull the stove out just to confirm it’s opening. That makes me feel much better now
Thanks Again
