What are suggested methods of cleaning the 2 air inlet holes just below the flame guide? Do the air passages go straight back or curve in a particular direction? These holes on my insert need attention and I'd like to hear some suggestions before I dive in.

Thanks for the reply. My stove has a build date of Jan 2010. Do the passages just go straight back?

"below the flame guide"? I have no idea what you are referring too. A picture might help me help you.

No pictures and currently too cold for a shutdown. However, they are mentioned in the last bullet on page 30 of the manual and there is a picture (Fig. 63) on the same page in the manual.

Here's the text from the manual:

"There are 2 primary air inlet holes on the rear flange of the burnpot. They should be checked for blockage and cleaned with a vacuum if necessary. Note: The bottom of the flame guide has 2 notches that match the holes."

I usually just vacuum them out never tried to stick anything in there. Only had a pellet blocking the hole and the shop vac took care of that
