Hi,I've been watching this forum for awhile, I have a yellow lab that doesn't shed much, but still leaves some fur balls here and there. I have been pretty diligent in cleaning the insert on a weekly basis, with a major cleaning after each ton this winter. One item that has not been cleaned is the distribution fan under the stove. This stove weights a lot how do you get to it?? I was thinking of removing the hopper lid then removing the side panels then the door, to reduce weight, so it would be easier to tip over ,I have tried to balance it on its edge to clean it and almost got crushed. Nothing in the manual about how to go about access to this fan. Any advice on how to access this fan for cleaning, is there a easier way to get to it? Thanks for any advice

if you have a raised hearth you can make your own service rail kit or possibly buy the service rail kit from your dealer but they may not sell you one and they are kinda pricey.
https://www.hearth.com/talk/threads/harman-rail-kit.62480/ here is a link from this forum showing some homemade service rails.

if you stove is at floor level then if you can tip it up you should be able to lay it down on its face, glass down towards the floor, but you'll want to put some padding down. I use a moving blanket folded up.

The problem is that it is not on a raised hearth, The insert is on the same level as the floor
Get a couple of 2 X 4's (approx 4' long) and 4 milk crates (or something similar in height and strength) unplug stove and sensor probe. Get a strong friend and slide and lift stove on top of boards that are on the crates. This will give you enough room to access the blower for cleaning.

I wanted to purchase the rail kit from Harman but it is to expensive so I built this

its still a little hard to get the fan out but I know its not going to come down on me I also made a dolly the same height as my rail kit so I can slide it right on the dolly and take it outside for a really good cleaning. So I can do everything with out help from a friend. good luck the bottom fan is in a terrible location but what can you do
