Harman Accentra ?

Hello all, I have a Harman Accentra that is about 8 years old and have a few questions.. I have a 1918 brick house that has zero insulation in the walls. I was told when installed I could run in either room temp, or Stove Temp.

What I have been doing over the years is burn a bag a day but no more due to the home inefficiency. This year it seems to want to burn more then 1 bag per day.. I can't seem to find the correct settings.. I typically get the fire started by the auto button and then turn it to manual. In years past I was going through an igniter a year which the company said was caused by leaving the igniter on..

So the setting is manual and the feed is on 1 and it still wants to burn more then a bag a day..

Any help would be appreciated..

Also, If I turn to Stove Temp the combustion/blower light turns off unless the igniter is set to auto.. So I would be fine with this as long as the igniter doesn't burn out..

It's hard to advise you based on the information provided. I heat a 1200 sq foot space that, until last year, was uninsulated. I burned a bag or 2 per day depending upon the outside air temp. This year, after insulating, I'm burning 1/2 to 1 bag/day. I keep the feed rate at 3.5, in room temp, set to manual. In 8 years I've replaced the igniter once.

I'm sure you realize it but adding insulation to your space will dramatically improve your living situation. There may be tax credits for doing so. You might want to tell the rest of the forum how much space you're trying to heat and whether you have the Accentra freestanding or insert. If you don't have the outside air kit (OAK) I'd also recommend installing one. Without it you're dumping heated room air to the outside.

Has anything changed in the house ? for instance I had a well insulated removable hatch to access the attic. The wife wanted a folding stairway put in and from the day i opened that hatch up and installed the uninstalled folding stairway the ran ran way longer cycled on. So anything like going on ? A door that now doesn't close tight etc...

In terms of the stove itself, when is the last time it had a really good cleaning , to include the ESP probe and the venting ?

Thanks for the info.. The house has 3800 sq foot.. I have added (bats)insulation in the attic, 44 new windows, new boiler.. I have thought about blowing insulation from the inside through the plaster but don't know how effective it is..

This is a fireplace insert.. At this point I use it as another source of heat vs primary. I am ok with this setting as long as the igniter doesn't burn out.

I just added insulation to my attic in this old 1300 sq/ft house of mine. It wasn't easy by any means but what a difference. I had 3" blown in insulation before but this year decided to up that. I went to HD and bought rolls of R-30 and over a period of 10 days/one month/3 hrs a day (it was tough) laid it down. I can now keep my old Breckwell set on setting 'C' and the temperature inside hasn't dropped below 70 and it's 20 outside overnight.

Why did I wait so long?

I'm running my 52i in stove temp/auto, settings 2.5/ feed rate 3 and I am going through about 1.5 bags a day. Temp have been low 49's during the day and high 30's at night. Hope this helps.

I don't know that the igniter should be staying on in that mode. On my P61 in that mode once the fire is established and the ESP picks up the heat the igniter circuit shuts off as indicated by the light going out. but the stove is a 2013 model too.
