I recently installed an advance in my basement. Up and out install using Selkirk direct temp. I'm having issues with decent size pellets being blown out of the pot and very low brisk flame. I have a magma gauge and now a harman ddm. In testode my draft reading is very high. High draft is maxed out on draft gauge and low draft is at .6 and this is with the low draft adjusted all the way down. The only way to get a decent looking fire is by covering the air intake with metal tape. When I do this it raises the reading on the draft gauge. I scored the ddm for $80 and took a few pics of what it's showing in test mode

Corkman, I've never had the opportunity to use any gauges but hopefully a bump will catch someone's eye! Good luck

I don't remember the readings but I had to turn my draft screw back, thinking of it as a clock, 35 minutes counter clockwise. and my home has a steady 120 volts. burns much nicer now, less crap on glass too.

i have the draft screw turned as low as it will go.you can see it in the pics.1st pis it shows -00v.that is normal operation of the stove with the screw set all the ways up.
i then turned it all the ways down and it shows a reading of -10v.
so with the set screw turned down i get a low reading of .6 in test mode and pellets jumping out of the pot and low brisk fire that doesn't get above the flame guide.
when i restrict the air intake to get what looks like a good burn i jump to .8 but no pellets jumping out of the pot
im using awf softwood with feed set to 4 and running in room temp

Exhaust venting - what size and how tall?
its selkirk direct temp piping which preheats the air before entering the stove.i believe its 4" pipe surrounded by a 6" pipe.pretty basic install up and out thru my basement window.cleanout t off the stove,5ft vertical,90,2ft horizontal

I have Bixby stoves which used to use the same pipe in a pipe system. The theory of warming up the cold air sounds good but keep a eye out for moisture building up in the exh because the incoming cold air will cool off the exh so the small particles/soot etc will build up causing premature pugging of the inner exhaust pipe.

Can't believe I'm going to say this ... guess you should have used 3" ;hm

Edit: May have to create some kind of damper system for intake air...

He may have created a draft problem with vertical pipe but doesn't seem likely with only 5 or 6 feet. Is there a small damper in the back of the stove where the fresh air gets in to the stove? is it loose so it can move?
When you adjust that small white screw it increases or decreases the exh fan speed. You should be able to hear the difference when you turn it.
This is a rarity,
If it has a better flame and runs better maybe cover half the pipe and try that. Not a normal thing to have happen though.

Here's a video of it burning full tilt. Set in stove temp and dial set to 7 and feed set to 4

oops.how do i post a vid off my iphone.i tried 3 times and no luck
