Harman p61a not working need some help!!!!

Last night before bed went to scrap the burn pot and when I did I heard a weird noise. The noise stopped and so did the stove. I waited for a few seconds and nothing happened. So, I turned the stove to the off position and then back to room temp.... nothing happened. I then turned it off and then back to stove temp... nothing... I have unplugged the stove and then plugged it back in and turned the stove on. Nothing... The stove was cleaned two days prior. I have since then cleaned it again, removed all pellets from the hopper and vacuumed out the hopper, I have removed the back and cleaned and dusted the combustion motor, distribution motor, and the feeder body. I have no blinking lights.... But this is what I get...

-When turned on from the off position to room temp.
-Power light on
-Status light on
-Combustion light on

When turned off position.
-Power light on
-Combustion light on

When in test mode
-Power light on
-Distribution light on
-Combustion light on

The stove was installed by a local dealer about 1.5 years ago and was serviced in August for a cleaning. The tech did mention that the combustion blower had a lot of dog hair in it. I have noticed that the combustion blower does not come on when in test mode... Could this be the problem? The auger does not come on either, does the combustion fan need to come on before the auger starts?....

Do you by chance have it on a UPS? If it is acting up, or somehow got placed on the Master Power setting, that will prevent the stove from starting, and everything will work during test except the auger.

Exhaust fan is the first thing that needs to come on to close the vacuum switch to close the auger circuit. When you cleaned the fan did you give it a turn to see if it was free? May have to disconnect the leads to it and use a cord with terminals to test it by plugging in to wall. Maybe a hair or four roped its way around the exhaust fans cooling fans and choked the motor?

Probably don't take much...Not a high horsepower motor..... none are. Wonder if it has a dry bearing?

Did you hear the weird noise while cleaning the burn pot? If so, can you tell where it was originating. Weird noise could be bearings.

Test mode should run everything

Sounds like you found your problem. Fan should move freely. As mentioned these are low power motors and if bound up then they won't be able to start. If they do manage to start they won't come up to speed as they should.

Good news is Harman will warranty the combustion blower for two years. Call first thing Monday Morning. The dog hair was most likely found in the distribution blower and not the combustion blower.

You have not mentioned in your cleaning the removal of the fan plate behind the ash bin and cleaning the fan and exhaust path.

Just cleaned it again and was able to move it freely. But when turned to test mode fan doesn't come on. Also makes humming noise when stove is plugged in.

Even if he cleans it again. How does hair get in the unit? Are you throwing it in the hopper?

I have two dogs hair gets sucked up in the fans

Are you able to seal the area where hair is getting sucked up? That would prevent this from reoccurrence.

The question was asked, are you sure you are speaking of the combustion blower ? And have you removed the ash pan and then the hatch behind where that sits. Inside there is where you will see the combustion blower fan, not behind the stove. It would be almost impossible for dog hair to get there. You can see the combustion motor from the back but not the fan. I thing the fan you see ( squirrel cage fan) is the distribution, mine gets cat hair in it.

Yes sorry behind the stove gets dog hair in it.

Now that makes sense. Simply keep the cats and dogs off the stove while it's running, and you'll be all set(broken image removed)

We get that but the combustion blower doesn't have a fan back there, the fan to the combustion blower is inside the stove. Could that be plugged with ash, is that spinning freely ? I don't see the convection fan not turning conking out the stove with no error code but certainly do see the combustion blower not turning doing such.

All the new motors do not have the back cooling fan anymore.
