I have a question regarding a Harman Accentra free standing pellet stove. Tonight I noticed that it felt hotter then normal. I touched the top of it and almost burned my hand. Usually I am able to rest the bag on top of the stove while refilling it. Someone at work had told me that he had the controls fry from the stove getting too hot. I felt the fold out control box and it was warm. This is my 3rd year with this stove and I have never felt it this hot. I'm calling my installer tomorrow, but I would like to sleep tonight with it on. Also I cleaned it 2 days ago. I usually clean it every three weeks. Has anyone ever had this problem?

is it colder out? The automation in your stove responds to the corresponding heating demand, automatically.
Yes. It is 16 here. The pellets inside the stove are also very warm. The status LED has not flashed. Do you think it would be alright to leave on tonight?

Feeling the Heat
You should not be able to rest your pellet bag on top of the stove, if it was working correctly. You would have a big mess.

It honestly sounds like it is working as designed. The pellets in the hopper of my stove also get warm.
I'd feel more confident that your stove is simply responding to the cold. I'd also bet your pellet consumption will be going up.

Put it in Stove mode and turn the heat setting up to 5 and your feed rate up to 5 and bask in the warmth the stove provides.

Check the grate at the bottom back of the stove. It catches dust, hair ect. if it is clogged it could be restricting air flow. Also pull back shields off and check dist fan which is in plain sight in the bottom of the stove. make sure it is not plugged w/ dust ect. I have seen these fans and grates pretty packed if there are dogs and cats in the house. Usaully the top of the accentra does not get very hot do to the air flow thru that area
Have you by any chance changed the brand of pellets you are using? If so they may be a hotter pellet.

I've been having the same problem, only it was warmer today than it has been in over a month and after a thorough cleaning, my stove has driven the temperature up to 87 in the living room. I decided to switch the stove to off before I went to bed, but then noticed a burning smell and the stove wasn't shutting down. I unplugged it, even though I know that's not recommended, and it took another 10 min for the fire to actually go out. It is burning way hotter than it has in my 4 years of owning it... any suggestions? Thanks!
