Harman XXV feedback

Looking to put a pellet stove in the basement of my house but my wife has been turning her nose up at most units until she saw the Harman XXV. Looks fantastic and has the Harman reputation behind it but have been reading some issues others have been having with it on this forum.


I would like to get some feedback (good or bad) from owners of the XXV. Its possible some posts are from individuals troubleshooting there particular unit. Just want to make sure the XXV is as reliable as the other Harman’s.

The main reason I went with the P series over the XXV was that I wanted the residual heat off the sides and top. The XXV is much cooler to the touch. No other reason but if wife likes it then go for it. I thought sure my wife would want one also but she just liked a black only no trim P68.

I've only had mine for just over 2 months but I love it. I love the look and the fact that it will hold 60 lbs of pellets (large hopper will last over a day). I liked that it was cool to the touch on the sides and top (glass door is red hot) since we use it as a supplement, not a primary heat source.

My friend has had the XXV for 10 years if I remember correctly and he uses it as his primary heat source in a 220 year old house. He neer had a problem with it. When we knew we wanted a pellet stove he said hands down the XXV. If it's in your budget go for it.

Bought one 5 years ago. Hands down the best decision we ever made. .. except getting married, haha.
heats our 2500 sq. Ft. House and is used as our only heat source all winter. Convinced 2 other friends to get a harman, one the xxv, the other the advance (smaller house).
Buy it and enjoy life.

Btw, electrical bills went from close to $400 at a chilly 65 degrees to wow, $80 at 75-78 and a super happy wife.

thank you, great feedback. What types of run times do you get on a full load, low vs high. I was hoping to run it in manual mode on low but was curious what other do. Salesman thought about a bag a day, but did not ask him if that was all out or not.

A bag a day would be at the lowest setting possible like on 1 or to 2 in stove mode. All out on 7 would at least be 2.5 bags. Maintenance burn runs through about a 1lbs an hour. This would just keep the fire from going out.

In shoulder season I run in room temp auto so it cycles on and off as needed. It saves a lot of pellets. If temps are in the 40's during the day I will use room temp manual so it doesn't take as long to ramp back up as it is in maintenance burn and easily maintaines a 1 degree differential. 50's during the day I switch to room temp auto.
