I love this insert!
My house is about 2600 sq ft and average temps 1st floor are 72-75
Second floor is 70-73

I'd reccomend this stove to anyone.

Burn times are not as manufacturer stated, they say 17 hr
I easily get 12-14 with good coals left

My first report of my wood burning experiences about twenty years ago before upgrades were made to reduce heat losses in our approx 2000 sqft home constructed 1845 before insulation was thought of got heating benefits to satisfy our family of 5 using a Fisher poppa bear stove. This was before electric fans were available. The newer technology wood stoves were starting to make in roads. I never found any that performed for heat output like the Fisher in spite of all of the upgrades to reduce heat losses. Two years ago we purchased a Summit Pacific energy along with recommendations of upgrades of a new 10K$ chimney. The stove works well at zero C until temperature drops and higher burn is necessary by adding lots of fuel from our choice well seasoned hard wood which builds up with a bed of charcoal that adding fresh is a problem. The heat loss going up the chimney was used for heating would roast you out of our home. Triple heat is radiated when fire door is opened which require us to wear heavy insulated gloves for burn protection.
I believe this stove would heat flawlessly heat a R-2000 home. I do not allow heat to second floor to reduce heating to less than 1000sqft. To get comfort with 0 F we stay within 6 ft radius with the fan on high.

Large coal bed building up like that is indicative of not fully seasoned wood, that being said, the "old school" smoke dragons like the fisher would burn anything placed inside it due to air leaks and burn it down fast.
When you say well seasoned, what does that mean?
I only ask because it varies from person to person.

I am also planning on making a purchase this spring. I am looking at the Harman 300i and Lopi Freedom. This is my first wood stove. I am sick of walking into a cold house (60f) due to oil prices.
The harman sounds good. Long burn times is what I need. Does anybody have any comments on the Lopi?

I hear ya on the oil prices. The last two winters prior to this one I had my t-stats set between 58 and 60 most of the time and still burned $3000 in oil Wife and kids and I would huddle in front of the open fireplace alot and I would go through insane amounts of wood with little heat benefit. This past fall I installed a Pacific Energy Summit insert in my 2600 sq ft home. I've been burning 24/7 and the average temps in my house now are 75 on the first floor and anywhere from 70 to 72 on the second depending on what room your in. During those sustained cold "polar vortex" days we had I was able to keep the house in the mid to high 60's with ease. Now that the temps are in the 30's and 40's, on a full load the house will get 80 and we're crackin windows. LOL. I haven't used a drop of oil for heat this season, only hot water. This was the best investment I made in a long time. In all though I love my Summit and would recommend it. At the time I was also looking at the Lopi Freedom as well as the Avalon Olympic. They are all great stoves. I may actually put the Olympic in my second fireplace this next year just so I can utilize both fireplaces.

Thanks for the info. Hearth.com is a great resource and I'm sure it will help me get the most out of my stove. Btw I spent Saturday morning visiting dealers and I'm leaning toward the Harman.
