After using my xxv for several weeks and trying 6 different brands of pellets good and bad I'm convinced that there is nothing that can be done to stop the glass from getting ugly after just a few hrs of cleaning it. Cleaning the glass is no big deal, shutting the stove down and letting it cool to do the job is the pain. Now I know why the dealer avoided talking about cleaning the glass when asked. Anyway, if someone with more experience with the XXV has a solution or suggestion to do this job of keeping the glass clean please feel free to let me know where I could be going wrong.

Do you have a picture? I have the same stove and glass will start showing hazing in about a day, depending on what setting i have stove on, and type of pellets. If im running in room temp, glass gets dirtier quicker. If i have it in stove temp, and about 4 and above, takes a little longer. Depends on pellet as well. I got some crappy pellets this year and glass is getting a little dirtier, but don't see any difference in heat. When someones coming over, or is bothering me, i'll clean glass.
Sorry no picture, just cleaned it and right now it looks great. I usually run the stove on stove temp. Mode and set the feed on 4.5 and the temp on 70. I will admit the stove works great and is right on holding the temp. I tried the constant burn mode and that also worked perfect but the stove turned off and started up to much. That mode also used way to many pellets.
I complained about the glass issue last March to Harman. Looks like a lazy 7. Harman called me and said there is nothing that can be done to resolve the problem. Bottom line is we have to live with it sorry to say. So I clean every other day.
I just clean it when I have company coming over, if it gets too crazy and sticks like glue, then I clean the glass with porcelain stove top cleaner. This also worked very well on the mirrored side when I accidentally hit the glass with a swiffer pad and melted it to the glass. I am pretty happy with my little heater

Have a Harman P61 and most of us get the "Teardrop stain" in the top right corner...
with Ashier pellets like Stove chows, the stain is brown
Better grade/ the stain is more like dust light color....
Bought 6 bags of Blazers yesterday at home depot just to try and No stain at all.
barley any ash also.....Best pellets HD ever sold...If I didn't have 5tons in the basement I would have bought a skid in a heartbeat..
btw: I open the door and wipe the stain couple times a day.. 5 seconds. no biggie.
I;m convinced that 90% of dirty glass is the grade of pellets[assuming your stove is running at peak performance with no little issues]

I have the XXV and don't find the glass that dirty and I've been burning some pretty poor ashy pellets in North American Pellets and NEWP. I've found the Okanagon Gold burn better, ash seems grainier but less ash and glass seems cleaner so I'm going to continue burning those this season. I clean my glass once every 1-2 weeks and even then it's only hazy around the edges.
I usually set my stove to room temp between 65 and 70 setting area and blower is somewhere around medium/medium-high area.

Could be the P series Harmans...
burning Blazers[ From HD of all places] here for 1st time and glass is spotless pretty much.Actually cleanest pellets I have ever burned so far.
.Very Impressed I might add.

I just open the door and wipe it with a paper towel not perfect but much better and really I could care less I got mine for HEAT not looks !Good Luck !

Burning Okie platinum in my XXV this year and after 14 bags the glass has a only a haze in an upside down V shape. With cheaper pellets the V would be black in a day or 2.
To me, the Okies are worth every penny.....burnt a ton and emptied the pan once.

Glad to know I'm not the only one with this shape! Thought it was just the air pattern in my particular unit!
While we're on the topic of XXV glass, anyone experienced a permanent glass cloudiness? Possibly an issue with the glass coating? I have an oval shaped cloudiness dead-center top of the glass. It will not come off no matter how much I scrub on it. When I rub my hand over it, it feels as if there's an issue with the coating maybe. It doesn't hurt the viewing of the flame, more just annoying when I clean the glass. Any ideas? I've included a picture.
Note: The flash from my phone accentuates the cloudiness. It doesn't look this bad to the naked eye.

I have one though not as big and nowhere as cloudy...mine is barely noticable when the window has been cleaned.
You can wipe the glass when it's burning I use a dry 100% cotton rag when it's burning. I wipe it down in the morning and again in the evening stays pretty clean that way.

it's been like a glaze on the glass should start with a cleaner for glass
I think what is causing this glaze on the glass that's when the flame leans forward and almost touching the glass.
when there is too much ash on the front of the flame burn pot leans forward instead of going right to the heat exchanger
so you have to adjust the feed to have less ash accumulating on the grate and flame going straight up

I buy Okies every year, my only complaint is that I always end up with wet bags(this year they are also loaded with Fines), and almost never with any other brand. I think they must have the worst packaging of them all, my favorite brand is Turmans, but they were out of stock this year, I was actually going to order only Turmans this time, thats how sick I was of the Okies.

I cleaned the stove on Sunday at 3pm. It is now Tuesday, 10pm and this is how my glass looks. I have not cleaned the glass since Sunday.
I've been burning Barefoot pellets in room temp mode, stove set to 75 and feed rate 4. The Barefoots are not burning as clean as they were last year, darker ash that is heavier and clumps more, a little disappointing.
My glass is at the point where it bugs the misses so I wiped it down after taking this picture. The glass stays cleaner when I clean the oily residue on the base of the interior door, just below the glass.

I agree with the above. Ash build up that doesn't fall off pushes the flame forward.
I had the same cloudiness as the other poster until I purchased Rutlin glass conditioning cleaner. Rub some on when the glass is cold and buff it out.
Finally, when you see a build up of ash, open the door and pull it off into the ash pan, this will move the flame into a vertical pattern against the heat exchanger.

Thanks twodogs02, I'll have to try the glass conditioner. I've pulling ash down but I think the cloudiness was already on there when I got the stove. Bought a showroom model they were replacing for an enamel color coated one. Love the stove, works flawlessly otherwise besides the glass cloudiness.

That is how my St. Croix is. I bought it used and it came that way. Everything around it is smooth and cleans up fine, that area has a slight texture and I've tried a couple different types of stove glass cleaner without any affect.

Im pretty fussy when cleaning the Glass and work really hard a t keeping it tip top ! So last year end of season I was at my harman Dealers Store and asked a tech if there was an easier way to keep the glass clean he sold me on Propane Stove window cleaner ..it makes the job much easier !
