Heard Pad for a Drolet HT3000

Hi Folks,

I' getting ready to install a Drolet HT3000, and I'm looking to figure out the proper hearth pad size I should go with. The Mrs. has one like this picked out in 40", but the specs on the HT3000 are 28 1/8'' W X 31 1/4'' D X 36 3/8'' H.

Realistically, over hardwood flooring, what size pad should I be going with?

In Canada i believe it should be 8" behind the stove, 16" in front, and 8" on each side.

In the US they only specify 16" in front.
So as long as you have 16" in the front,. you're legal here.

And it is only ember protection; no R value needed.

In the US, SBI lists the hearth pad width as measured as 8" to each side from the ashlip. In Canada it is measured from the stove sides.

The floor protection at the back of the stove is limited to the stove’s required clearance if such clearance is smaller than 8 inches (203 mm).

Read again, the info is copy-pasted from the manual. Dimension G has a footnote 18. Dimension J (for US) is 8". They could have made it a little clearer with two diagrams, one for the US and one for Canada.

In any case, in doubt go with the Canadian requirements which generally encompass the USA ones.

Thanks guys, looks like I need to go with a bigger pad afterall. Is there a rule-of-thumb for when a wall shield/pad is needed?
