I am installing a 36" Temco wood burning fireplace. Can I install the fireplace two feet above floor level, and still place the hearth at floor level? Everything I read refers to the hearth being at the same level as the fire box.
Answer:
Yes, you can install a fireplace as a "picture window" fireplace as you describe. However combustible material must not touch the black face of the pre-fab fireplace on any side. If you want a "flat wall" look, then using durarock or wonderboard (cement board) in place of wall board might do the trick. Follow all other clearances in the manual.
