Hello There,
My wife and I looked at the Hearthstone Homestead today, and it would fit our situation, but the money's tough to swallow. Anyone know of another alternative that is similar size? It looks like the VC Encore would work if it was sold with shorter legs. The Jotuls don't work because the output is actually higher than the top of the stove--the Hearthstones come from below.

Height: 24" (can be taller in front, but needs to be under 24" to fit in fireplace)
Width: not an issue
Depth: 16" to fireplace entrance, 40 total.

Hello There,
I believe I need a rear-exit option, which rules out steel? I have 16" depth (before it enters the fireplace), 24" height, and 30" width.

Thanks,

S

Yeah, but there has to be more than one option!

There aren't many stoves out there that will make that short 24" height clearance, maybe a Dutchwest by VC or Intrepid II will work, I think you can sit the Dutchwest right on top of your hearth without the legs?

I know the Heartstone can be a little pricey...but bite the bullet you won't be sorry. It's a very nice stove. I beleive I may have a very similar set up to what you will have. piped out the back, to a T, and SS liner ran through old fireplace double wall. works VERY well !

Yosemite: (broken link removed to http://quadrafire.com/downloads/installManuals/man_yosemite.pdf)

See Page 5

Top of to collar when rear vented is 22-7/16"

JTP,
Thanks for the suggestion--that looks like an excellent alternative!

I don't think short legs are available for the Encore. I also have a small hearth install and looked into that. I think Hearthstone has some of the best options for this application and they are really nice stoves.

I had an issue with height and clearance for my VC encore. I swapped legs from my resolute acclaim onto the encore and it gave me the height reduction I needed. good luck.
