Does anyone have a picture of the inside of their Mansfield? We had a warm spell a few days ago and I had time to let my stove cool down to the touch. I re-arranged the metal "T" support, etc.. piece that goes up towards the baffles. I have it with the tabs forward, hanging on the square side manifolds. The fire is easier to control now, but the glass airwash isn't working as well. A picture would clear this up a lot easier than words. I'll try to get a picture as well ASAP, but does anyone have a picture of theirs installed correctly so I may see?

Okay, burning season has been over for months now. Finally got around to snapping a picture of the bracket I am referring to. I'm almost positive it is installed incorrectly in my stove. Can someone show me a picture of theirs, or describe how mine should look?
Thanks

That little square flashing piece should stand vertical above the baffle in order to force the smoke stream in a less direct route to the flue.

Thanks Highbeam.
So if I held the bracket on the right side with my right hand and rotated it counter clockwise 90 degrees, it would be in the correct position?
Should it be holding/propping anything up? Or just stand on its own and hold nothing above it?

OK, I have to ask how you FOUND a stove. Can you give us the Reader's Digest version?

blows my mind that those don't qualify for the tax credit. i

Is it just me or does it look like the ceramic baffle has a chunk out of it on the left side? Also has a gap on right side of stove? The baffle should fit snug to the back and sides and have an opening in front for the smoke and gas to pass through, and the whole baffle should be square. That steel plate should sit on top of the forward part of baffle, vertical with the stove top, not laying horizontal.

she does look a little cockeyed.. i think that you need to flip the ends around on that thing and let the baffle sit in the "L" to hold is square.. the plate should be pointing up and the whole shootin match back more to contact the baffle as well.

Todd, I think what you're seeing is the fiber blanker on top of the hard baffle. It's like a huge cotton batt and I dislike them for a few reasons including the fact that they just lay there on top and must be put into position. My hard baffle plate doesn't fit super tight all around, there is an eighth inch or less gap on both sides allowing it some slop so I think his equipment is in good shape.

If you grab that SS bracket with either hand while reading your watch your thumb will push up into the square flame deflector. You need to push with your thumb to rotate the piece clockwise so that the flame deflector tries to hit the interior top of the stove. Then slide the whole SS bracket back until it slides under the front of the ceramic baffle board. The front of the baffle board will rest on the SS bracket.

The smoke should travel between the SS bracket and the stove glass. You now have it set up so that the smoke travels between the baffle and the SS bracket. You're restricting the smoke's path.

8010, or 8011?

doesn't matter, i cheched the schematics for both. its part 47. if you need the blow up, i can email the pdf....let me know 10, or 11.....
and the above info is correct, the tab of metal on the angle iron should be vertical.

I have an 8011. A pdf showing the bracket installed correctly would be great!
Here is another picture of what I understand you to be saying. Despite how it looks in the picture, the bracket is straight across and the ceramic is sitting flush on top. (must be my excellent photography skills)
The bracket does not seem secure, but I don't think it is likely to move out of place either. The ceramic plate is sitting on the small width of the "L" shaped bracket with the longer edge going straight up towards the top of the stove.

The bracket may be correct now, but the baffle doesn't appear to be in straight. There is a large gap at the front right side between #1 and #2 burn tubes. And the front bracket edge is not parallel with the burn tube.

I can't imagine your photo skills being that bad. It sure looks like the right side hasn't fallen into place. Looks like it is jambed against the baffle board. Push up on the baffle board between tubes 1 and 2 using your left hand and then with your right hand shove on the front of the SS bracket. It looks to be almost there, just not driven all the way home.

After you're happy with the SS bracket you can jimmy the baffle board around to make the gaps even on each side. Tight against the rear.

On my heritage, there is a cotter pin holding that SS bracket to the #1 tube to secure it a bit better. Maybe it is only needed for shipping but I put it back in each time.

You are both correct sirs.
I centered it, and pushed the ceramic all the way back. There's a good 8" gap between the front of the stove and the bracket. I left the camera at work today, otherwise I'd post a picture. Perhaps I will add that later.

Thanks for all the help. The schematic sealed the deal on my understanding.
Awesome.

Here is the final pictures of the bracket installed correctly. Thanks again for everyones help along the way. Happy 4th of July!

Still doesn't look right to me, but I don't have the stove to compare. Looks like there are still gaps on the right side and lower left?

bringing an old thread back from the dead...

can anyone confirm that the way bubela installed the bracket as shown in the picture he posted on july 4th is correct? i dropped the baffle in the spring to give the chimney a good sweep and never got around to reinstalling it until now. my bracket has a small hole in the center of it for a cotter pin to slide through and secures it to the front burn tube. i put it all back together last night, but it doesn't look like bubela's picture.

it would be greatly appreciated if any mansfield owners can take a picture from the same angle as bubela did.

thanks guys.

You know what's interesting is, my bracket has fallen over again. Perhaps it is common/normal, but when I fill the box with larger pieces, I often can't help hitting the baffles. The bracket is now on its side, and it's been 40 degrees so I've been burning 24 hours a day. I have not had the chance to reset it. Do others who have the baffle installed "correctly" have this issue where you need to reset it?

I'll hook you up this evening when I get home from work... Unless someone beats me to it. Hang tight.

thanks ckduece. also let me know about what year your stove was built (if you know)

bubela, does your bracket and front burn tube have a hole to accept a cotter pin? it doesn't look like it. any idea how old your stove is?

mine is a 2006 model.

No, no spot for a cotter pin. I'll have to look around for the plate, but I thought it was also around a 2006 model year. Maybe an '05.

That bracket uses a cotter pin to attach to the front burner tube on my heritage.
