Hearthstone propane stove

We have a Hearthstone Sante Fe propane free standing stove. We got it used and have been using it for a few months now. We use it as a supplemental heat in our living room and run it off a thermostat. Something of concern to me is that when the thermostat kicks on the flame it comes on with a loud "whoosh" and a larger than usual flame for a split second. It's much more noticeable if the flame height is adjusted above the lowest setting. If it's set to the lowest it lights quietly. Is this normal? should a stove be left at the lowest setting while running off the thermostat?
I've also noticed that near the flame height control is a terminal where the wires from the thermostat connect and the wires from the on, off, therm switch connect. There are 3 wires, but the middle wire (yellow) running from this switch (which looks to be from the off setting) is not connected at the terminal with the thermostat wires.

That "WHOOSH" sound is probably coming from a burner to burner orifice misalignment. If the orifice doesn't direct the gas stream into the center of the burner, some LP will escape thru the air shutter & ignite before it gets to the burner ports. It happens to many stoves that get moved & only happens with LP as it is heavier than air & tends to "puddle" in lower areas. Many gas grills will do this upon ignition, for the same reason. Take a look at that alignment.

The wiring I can't help you with unless I can see it. Can you post a pic?

Thanks..!! I'll take a look and see if I can find how to make an adjustment with the burner. Might be a tough area to get at and see....

Here are a few pics... Looks like the disconnected wire comes from the "on" position at the switch... Maybe that's not a needed wire if using a thermostat??

Could be. Jump from that wire to the terminal where the black wire is attached, & flip the switch to ON. If the burner ignites, that'll answer that. There may have been a small jumper in that system previously...

I guess if things are working properly with the thermostat it's not a big deal that the wire isn't connected. Just curious, and in a way I was kind of hoping it had something to do with the loud starting of the burner, but that would be too easy...lol

the wiring is fine, they just wired the t-stat direct to the valve, instead of to the switch.

as for the delayed ignition, try slightly closing the air fuel shutter if it isn't misaligned as Daksy mentioned
