Heartstone Phoenix 8610 Stone Question

Hello, I searched around the forums but could find the answer I was looking for. I have an older Phoenix 8610 soapstone free standing stove. Underneath the top soapstones there is a felt like material attached to the stones. What is this material and what is it for?

But I'd guess to shield the cast iron framework.

Sounds like the ceramic blanket. It also helps keep the fire stay a bit hotter in the firebox and thus a little cleaner burning.

Thanks for the reply's. This is different that the ceramic blanket, I had looked in the parts manual originally to try and figure it out. This material is actually adhered/stuck to the bottom of the soapstones and looks like felt or a fuzzy kind of material. Directly below the top cast (holds the soapstones) is the ceramic blanket.
The reason I'm trying to figure out is some of it has torn and wanted to replace it. It just doesn't appear to be shown in the parts manual.

Are you the original owner? Is it possible a previous owner added this?

I'm the 3rd owner of the stove. Don't know the original but know the 2nd, and he didn't install it. I was going to take a picture of it but keep forgetting.
