heat shield behind stove buck 2800

so Im going to replace the dreaded looking heat shied behind the stove.... it seem the stove produces no heat around the box on the back side and the sides,, seems the only real heat is coming from the stove pipe wall is warm to the touch... but behind the stove..... nothing? so am I reading the spec wrong?
I was in a hurry so I bought this black heat shield but see they have white stone in now... the single wall stove pipe is 20" from wall...
