Can anyone who has a Heatilator stove tell me how hot they run their stove top? I have a stovetop thermometer and it says at 600 degrees the stove is to hot and in the over fire range. So how hot is to hot? I don't even have to have the fire box full and with the air controll closed it still runs at 600 degrees.

So what your saying is my thermometer is a tad on the conservative side and I can open it up a little more and still be fine?
I guess what I am saying is 600 is plenty within the safe range. Rolling at 600* with air all the way down is primo burning; efficient and hot, just what you want.
If you want to take it a bit higher, just let the temp come up a bit more before cutting the air back. Just keep an eye on it until you are comfortable because they can ramp up quick.

Somewhat normal. Remember, if you are using a blower (???), that will contribute to the stove cooling a bit. The higher the blower fan is turned up, the more it will affect stove temps.
Your peaks should be in the 725-600 range, your 'cruise' burn throughout the majority of your burn duration should characteristically be 550-400. Then as the burn is in its final couple hours, typically it will fall to 375-200.
