Pellet stove on the last 2 days . This morning house cool enough to put the propane on .
Tuesday, they are forecasting a high of 31::C with a humidex . Maybe I will think about
putting the stove to bed for the summer. Just maybe!!
My basement only gets to 18C usually so I run it starting at about supper time then shut it off at bed time. On room mode it does not run too long and then cycles. I have it set to 23C. I will probably run it like that all summer. Do I need to worry about rust? I read that most guys clean it and block the vent, then put some damp rid? in it. Some guys even spray WD40 in there.

mine has been running for 3 hrs now. _g morning and evening daily

I don't need to run mine until later in the day, but it appears my basement stays pretty cool. The really hot weather is not here yet.
I will have the upstairs in cool mode so the basement probably won't change too much. Can you comment:

If I have a fire for 4 hours everyday will I dry it out? I have a dehumidfier running but not in the main room. Right now the humidity is between 50 and 55 near the stove.

If you run it every day, or even once a week, you shouldn't have issues with rust. When I shut my stoves down for the season, clean, spray graphite on the exhaust fan and the retainer assembly for the exhaust fan plate, block off the exhaust and OAK, and call it a season. Some years I put in wadded up newspaper, some years I don't.

I never use damp rid - I hear it attracts moisture and that would be silly as humid as it gets - I'd be dumping that thing all the time (or not, because I would forget). There were a couple of years I sprayed the P61a ashpan area with fogging oil (and heat the stove up as per directions), but I'm not sure if it really did anything. I do have a little rust inside the P61a, but it doesn't seem to spread. I've never sprayed the P43 with anything (except the graphite), and it has no rust inside.

It was in the 80's here today and set at 71 it fired up twice.

I hear ya. It seems strange though having my upstairs at 22C (using 2 heat pumps on cool), then going down to the basement and it's 18C.
I'm OK with running it though. I hardly use any pellets. It does not stay on for very long. I guess at some point in July and August I will feel really weird about running it. Last summer was super hot, even in June. This year is cooler/wetter so I'm not sure, as I only got it in Feb.
I was getting all geared up for my first big cleaning including the vent pipe and now I appear to be doing nothing.

I am hoping the heating season is finally over
Last week, the wood furnace was on . One day ran the
propane and the pellet stove on and off
To day 31::C with a humidity of 35, not so warm the rest of the week
But still into the 20s with a humidex, so maybe just maybe next week
I do the cleaning of both the wood furnace and the chimney, and the pellet stove
Then, come September 4 cord of hardwood in the basement and the first of 3
Skids of pellets will show up . The never-ending battle of keeping warm
Ever One have a Great Summer
