Help identifying wood

Can anyone help me identify the type. Harvested in central Iowa

Look for a small pinhole in the middle of the cutsides, if it's there it is Ash, looks like it to me.
 
Vote for Elm. Lots of Green Ash around me and none of it has that darker center as in the pics. Could be Black Ash though. As said when split you will know. Kevin
 
Ash. Look at the thickness of the bark folks, that ain't no elm.

My guess is pignut or bitternut hickory.
