After reading over a manual I found on here it says that a barometic damper should be installed for this stove, but from reading other threads about wood stoves most it seems most people were saying that you should not need one. Anyone have any info on this?

What model Salvo? Barometric dampers on wood stoves admit air into the flue which can cause the flue gases to cool too much. This can lead to serious creosote build up. If this is a Salvo coal stove that will be burning coal, then it may be ok to use the baro damper.

it is a combo stove, i dont really plan on burning coal though. Does coal end up being cheaper?
