I have a Whitfield Profile 30-2 and the control seems to be AFU. I ended up buying a so called Harman 05886 board, allegedly new, off ebay. I am 76, was first licensed as a radio amateur in 1965, and spent 68-74 as a Navy electronics tech, ETR-2, maintained GCA RADAR and TACAN, ended up at NAS Miramar in San Diego for 4 years. So I do have some electronics.
1...The seller pictured the board with a pigtail, but that was not to be. I tried to ID the Molex ? connector with no luck so far. I may have to break down and buy a Harman Harness. I have also thought about simply soldering wires to the board connector
2...I was unaware of all the new vs old boards? I've been using a P43 manual as a reference, but the pointers on the supplied knobs do NOT MATCH the photo of the control board label. Whether installed 1 way or 1/2 turn off, the pointer direction makes no sense in relation to the label. Did I get a China knock off?
3...I have a red thermister on the way and intend to install it in the Whitfield. The Whitfield used a photocell for flame proof, which is convertible to a snap switch. I may try to do that, ??
It also has a pair of hi limit snap switches in series with the auger. I intend to leave them there as added insurance.
I had this (the original stove and board) running with mixed results. The seller told me he "thought" the board was bad and it appears he was right. I have checked the safeties, bypassed them temporarily, and cleaned the cad cell window as well as checking it's change in resistnace. I am convinced the board is AFU
Anyhow any thoughts or hints on the conversion?
I only paid $100 for the stove, the burner pot, etc seems to be in good shape. On a side note, I also have a little Whitfield Prodigy II and it seems to work pretty well. I don't use it much, in the basement. I am also fighting with house fire restoration, not related to the heating system.
Thanks. Del in N end of Idaho state
