I went into a Home depot and saw a 50% off sale on all fireplaces and accessories. So I went to the seasonal dept and was speaking to the guy there and asked if the Englander stoves were also half off ! He said no.... the Home Depot does not determine when to put the stoves on sale but the Englander Co. does. I did not believe him I said well you guys buy them from them at wholesale mark them up and sell them at retail. The American way. He said no that Home Depot does not buy them they are in the stores on consignment from Englander and they determine the price, when to have them go on sale, and how big of a discount to set. I thought he was pulling more than my leg so I called a couple of other stores and the others basically said the same . The Home Depot Corp has nothing to do with pricing or discounts or sales on Englander stoves. Could this be true? If so have a sale Englander or tip us on when it will be !! :)

What a crock.

Id be suprised if Home Depot (or any other big box retailer) took anything on consignment. I know some manufactures require dealers to only ADVERTISE a list price, but once the retailer buys stock, its theirs; they can sell it for whatever they choose. As an example, I just bought a Stihl 390 from a local, small town hardware store thats a dealer. When talking with the owner about the various saws, and what would best suit my needs, I asked what he could do to take the pain out of a $489 saw purchace. I was hoping maybe he's throw in a free spair chain, or a gallon of bar oil-something relativly small.... he excused himself for a moment and then said he could sell me the saw for $400 even! Done deal. It may have helped that I'm a pretty regular customer.

I would go down the street to Lowes and get one - I just got a 13nc for a few hundred off list

I picked up an englander last year about this time from lowe's. It would not surprise me if the manufacturers did set the price on closeout. Might be a buy out type deal instead of shipping them back.
Keep your eye out. Mine listed for 1200 and I bought it for 600.

I,m trying to find an NC-30. Not one to be found in the KCK area. I'd buy one if I could find one close.

Did all that. Only way is online that I've found. Thanks!

yeah I m in the same boat... home depot isnt sure when these so called" clearance" stoves are going to actually drop in price ,im waiting and calling daily
they said could be one week to 4 weeks ,the 13nc is 799 and 12 model is 699 currently there ..hopeing for half price soon lol
I was told all home depots will drop the price in unison across the country ,when they decide to do so

My buddy just bought a Englander from Lowes Today here in Pennsylvania and said that all their stoves were marked 50% off.

Actually he posted the straight skinny a few days ago. He posted that ESW had been paid for the stoves when they were shipped to the box stores.

Lowes here is 50% off....so, an NC13 is $400 and an FP12 is $350. Kinda wish I needed one.

Since when do you have to NEED another wood stove to BUY another wood stove. Just ask me or member precaud.

I just wish that Lowe's stocked the add-on wood furnace.

The Home Depot here has the NC13 and 12 model marked down some....maybe 25% off at most.

Doug, do you recall if there were any NC30s at the Lowe's where you were? I was thinking about one for my parents if I could get it at a reasonable price.

BrotherBart - LOL...I DID rub on and play with firebricks in the NC13 on my way home!

Nic, South HSV Lowes had 2 NC13s, 1 FP12. Madison Lowes - I think the same. North HSV Lowes - I dunno. I've never seen an NC30 in one. And I've never seen an Englander in Home Depot in HSV - I heard from sales guy that they don't carry them. And don't forget Athens Lowes.

Thats a lie from HD man. I got my 13nc for 469+ tax. It was priced more but i talked to the manager and he cut another 20 or 30 bucks off.

uhhh, no. home depot , just like lowes and our other vendors buy stoves from us, they then stock them and sell them im sure based on whatever multipliers they use to set retail pricing, as far as when to clearance them , we do not have anything to do with that. they sell our units in their "seasonal" departments , i would assume that the clearances would depend on how soon they want that floor and shelf space to start stocking spring items such as grills and patio furnature and the like.

You blew it Mike. You should have agreed with the HD guy and then had people here that get clearance stoves to send you a bottle of Crown for you lowering the prices.
