Hello everyone. Long time burner, 1st time poster. Has anyone made these fire blocks at home. If so how an what was the results. Is it worth the time? Now I only burn seasoned hard wood after 3 years in a stack on my property. Now I have the property an plenty of redoak and hickory, but I have access to all the saw dust I could want, plus I am getting older. It would not take long to make a steal frame attach a car jack going into a steel pipe. But is it worth the time an space.

I make such sawdust blocks in a small scale to use as firestarters. My recipe is old candles (paraffin or soy wax) melted in and old pan and stir the sawdust in. Keep your temperature down or use a double burner setup so the wax can't flash and ignite. The end product is poured into empty egg cartons and cut up. Burns like the commercial wax/sawdust starters.
