I loaded my lopi revere with 4 sticks of 4 inch wood . I open the damper up about half way for 5 minutes. then i closed it all the way down in ab.out 10 minutes i had a large burn almost as if the damper was open .I saw two things that i thought may have cause it to do that .
One my wood is very very dry oak .And two i looked under the bottom of the stove where the damper leaver is an all the way in the back i saw a pice of plywood used in shipping at the back of where the damper slides . I pulled it out i have not refired yet . Waiting for your thoughts. thanks

Thats what i done this morning just started the burn i will let you know. I an hopeing it was just to much to big of a load off dry 4 year old water oak.

Terry - If you are not accustom to burning quality oak it can be an eye opener. I have heated 99% with ash for 3 years as my oak stash sat waiting. This year I have plenty of oak to run with and discovered an equivalent load of oak will run the stove around 100-150 degrees hotter than its counterpart in ash and cherry. I now use a mix on all but the coldest days.

Keep us posted on your results

It looks like the damper is working proper . I have a small fire now after a good clean out . Ido rember last night putting the wood on top of a layer of about -4 -inches of very hot coals once again of very dry wood. I guess i am still on my honeymoon with this heater

To me, 4 inches of hot coals seem like a bit too much to reload. Especially with prime oak.

Maybe wait till they burn down some more B4 ya reload.
