bought a Duluth Forge insert (model FDF300R) and the recommended blower (FIB-100). The blower comes with its own temperature sensor which gets mounted to the upper firebox heat insulation board. The blower has an 'automatic' function that seems to work just fine but does raise an interesting question .... how does it know what temp to come on and shut off? There is no way to set any sort of temp variance on the blower itself. The insert itself can be set to come on and off at different temps but the blower has no such function. I can only assume that some temp variance was preset at the factory but as to what it may be is up for debate.

Snap (or thermo) disks are factory preset switches that close at certain temperature. The calculations for pre-setting them are
involved with the thickness of the metal actuator disk, the diameter of the disk & the coefficient of expansion of the disk material.
If you change to a disk with different temperature, which is inadvisable, as it will change the parameters that the unit was tested at,
the actuation temperature of the blower will change.
